Bionator Appliance

The Bionator is a removable functional appliance used primarily in growing patients to advance the mandible and correct Class II malocclusions. It promotes forward mandibular growth, improves occlusal relationships, supports proper tongue posture, and encourages nasal breathing.

Variants:

Standard Bionator:

Advances mandible without altering vertical dimension.

Bionator I:

Opens deep bites by covering lower anteriors to guide posterior eruption.

Bionator II:

Closes open bites by covering posteriors, allowing anterior eruption and improving tongue position. Best used during mixed dentition (ages 7–10) for optimal skeletal changes. Worn full-time, except during meals, brushing, and contact sports.
