The soldered Hawley retainer is a removable orthodontic appliance designed for post-treatment retention. It features a labial bow soldered to metal clasps commonly C-clasps or Adams clasps which are embedded into a horseshoe-shaped acrylic base that conforms to the palate.The soldered joints provide enhanced structural integrity and long-term durability compared to conventional wire-bent designs. However, these joints may be susceptible to corrosion from oral chemicals or improper cleaning. Daily hygiene with mild soap and water is recommended to maintain appliance integrity, and any signs of damage should prompt clinical evaluation.
